Russ Meyer is one of the most controversial and delightful figures in the American film psyche. He burst onto the American film scene in the late 1959 with The Immoral Mrs. Teas which pioneered the genre of the 'nudie film' and launched his career. Meyer's films always featured large chested women and ridiculous, almost cartoony narratives. However there is more to Meyer's then meets the eye. Meyer's was a master satirist who cleverly poked fun at authority, morality, and sexuality. Meyer's was known as a true auter who shot, wrote, cast, directed, produced and distributed his films, which were all done a shoe string budget. His unique B-movie aesthetic is revered, and he is widely viewed as a groundbreaking director. He died in 2004, a wealthy and respected man.
